John Fitch

John Fitch was born the 15 April 1814 in Kentucky and died 13 Jan 1892 in Hendricks County Indiana. 
He is first counted in Indiana in the 1840 Census living in Brown Township, Hendricks County Indiana.  One male under 5 and one male 20-29 and one female 20-20
He is married to a Mary Cox prior to this date.  There first child is born in 1838 so it could be surmised that they were married prior to this date.
In the 1850 Census the household consist of John age 35, Mary age 34, Marion a son age 12, Louisa age 9 (This is the same Louisa Fitch the mother of Ora Nash), Alfred age 7, Zarilda or Sarilda age 5, William W age 1, and Elizabeth Cox age 79; the mother of Mary.

In the 1860 Census John is still a farmer, and residing in Brown Township.  The household consist of  John age 46, Mary age 45, Louisa age 19, Alfred age 17, Zarilda, Saridla or Lareda age 15,  William age 11, Allen age 7,  John  age 5 and Dudley H age 2.  John has $3,500 dollars in real estate property and $750 in personal property.

In the 1870 Census   This is the last Census that Mary is to be counted in as she must pass prior to 1876 as John remarries in 1876.  The household in 1870 consist John, Mary, Leander age 25, William age 21, Ellen age 18, John age 15 and Dudley age 12.  Leander and Ellen are no other census records.  I do not know if they were miss identified in prior census or if they could be relatives.  Mary's burial place is unknown to the project at present.

On 17 Dec 1876 John remarries Susan White Everett the widow of John Everett

The household consist in the 1880 Census of John age, Susan age, step children Amy Elizabeth Everett age 29, Sanford Albert age 21 and a Eliza B. Fitch age 7 identified as a Niece an born in Nebraska, does give the name surname Fitch on even the step children.
