Ora A. Nash

Ora A. Nash was born in 1865 in Indiana and passed at the age of 16 on the 6th of April 1881.  He is first counted in the 1870 Census living in Polk, Dekalb, Missouri.  He is living with his parents Asa M. Nash born 1840 and Louisa Fitch born 1841.  In the 1870 Census; he is the oldest child of the Nash family; which consist of Asa, Louisa and a daughter Rosa age 2.  Also in the household is Elizabeth Nash(married surname) the mother of Asa, born in North Carolina.  She is listed first which is usually reserved for the head of household.  She has 4,000 dollars in real estate and 1,000 dollars in personal property.  Asa is a farmer and has  no value in property; but Louisa has 100 dollars of personal property. Also a James Hebden age 54 born in England has 3,000 dollars in real estate and 1,000 of personal property.  Simeon Nash age 17 born in Indiana is also in the household.

In the 1880 Census the family is living in Brown Township, Hendricks, Indiana.  The family consist of Asa, Louisa, Ora, Rossia age 12,  Everett O. age 8 born in Indiana, Edna M age 2 born in Indiana.  Asa is a carpenter.  Ora works on a farm, and so does Rossia.  What does this census tell us.  It show that by 1882 the family had moved from Missouri to Indiana, as Everett O. is born in Indiana. 
(Note on Rossia, in the 1870 Census a Rosa appears and is born in 1868 and then in the 1880 census a Rossia is a male and is counted as such in later Census records.)
The 1880 Census is the last Census that Ora is counted in as he dies in 1881.  At that time the family leave Indiana, for Kansas counted in 1885 and by 1900 the Oklahoma Territory.  A daughter Stella V.Nash is born in 1884 in Kansas.  So after Ora's death the family leaves Indiana and settles in Kansas between 1881 and 1884.
