Silas P. Todd

Silas P. Todd was born in 1854 and passed away at the young age of 19 on April 8th 1873.  According to census records he was born in Indiana.  He is first counted in the 1860 Census living with his parents James T. Todd born 1818 and died 1878, and his mother is Jane Sawyer born 1822 in Indiana.  Her maiden name is Sawyer as found on her second youngest daughters marriage index.   Silas' father is a farmer and he a several brothers and sisters listed on the census.  They are as follows John E. born 1842,  Mary J. born 1843, Eliza A. 1845, Joseph D. 1849, Dorcus A. 1853, Issac C. 1858.   His family had been counted prior to the 1860 Census as living in District 7, Boone, Indiana in 1850. 
In the 1850 Census the father James T gives his birth place as Indiana, but the 1860 he give Kentucky as birth place. 
In the 1870 Census the family is counted in the same number as the Crane family. I have not explanation of this.  The household consist of James, Jane, Mary J., Silas, Issac, Christine 1860, and Francis 1868.  This is the last census that Silas is counted on.  As to why he died that is a mystery of time as death records were not kept in Indiana until 1882.  Maybe a family member will know why he died.
