Jeremiah Carter

Jeremiah Carter was born the 23 Jul 1826 in Kentucky and passed away 13 Dec 1908 in Hendricks County Indiana.  He is buried in Howards Cemetery. He is first counted as the head of household in the 1850 Census living in Brown Township, Hendricks, Indiana.  He is married to a Catherine G b. 3 Sep 1828 in Kentucky, possible maiden name Storts.  The 1900 Census indicates they were married in 1845. In the 1850 Census they have two children James William born 1848 and a girl Mary E born 1850. The Jeremiah Cater family has  not yet been found in  the 1860 Census.  They are in the 1870 Census still in Brown Township in Hendricks County.  Mary E is still living with her parents and so is a sister Martha born in 1852.  In the 1880 Census only a son John C Carter born in 1859 is living with the parents.  I do not know where he was in the 1870 Census.  But he is identified as a son, along with John C., a servant Izabell Todd is listed.    In the 1900 Census the household consist of Jeremiah, Catherine, John C., John's wife Minta C. Marvel and their four children Orville O age 18, Nellie age 15, Zeph age 9, and Russel age 6.   Jeremiah's death is recorded in the Indiana Death as dying in Brown Township in Hendricks.  Catherine G Storts? is living with her son John's family in the 1910 Census, she passes on 15 Jun 1918.
