Howards Cemetery Interned Genealogy
Have been researching the Genealogy of the interned in Howards Cemetery. The sign at Howards gives the established date as 1886, but the first burial is that of Israel D. Howard born in 1839 and he died on Aug 7, 1841. But this recorded date maybe wrong and with our excavation we will determine, the correct death date; as the Census records indicate that in 1850 Israel is two years of age and living with his parents. It could be a possibility that there could be two Israels, but no Israel is shown living with the family in the 1860 Census. The original Cemetery records either never existed or have been lost to time. Israel was the son of John B. Howard b. 9 Oct 1809 d. 31 Jul 1870 and his wife Lydia 23 Nov 1812 d. 6 Nov 1883, they are also buried in Howards. Israel's brothers Alonzo b.1829 d. 18 Sep 1848, and Dudley b. 1843 d. 8 Aug 1851. are both buried in Howards. There is also a Chloe, Emma and Samuel Howard that are buried in Howards, but have not been identified as being part of the John B. Howard family.
