James M Crane was born 29 Dec 1840 in Indiana, he passed away 17 Sep 1928. His occupation was that of a farmer. He marries Elizabeth Cox in 5 Dec 1861; she was born in Kentucky 26 Nov 1843 and passes 23 Jan 1916.
They have set up housekeeping in Perry Township, Boone County Indiana in the 1870 Census; and have two daughters recorded in the census Lorinda R. Crane born Sep 1862 and Almira E. Crane born May 1870.
The family is again counted in Perry Township in the 1880 Census with the addition of a daughter Sarah A. Crane 1878. This is the last Census with the daughters living at home. (More about the daughters in their individual sketches)
James and Elizabeth are counted again in the 1900 Census living in Perry Township, and again in 1910 Census; but living in Eagle Township, Boone County Indiana; James is a retired farmer at this time. The are living on Academy St. in Zionsville, Indiana.
The 1910 Census is the last that Elizabeth is counted in as she passes in 1916. In the 1920 Census James M is back in Perry Township living with Lorinda's family. This will be the last Census he is counted in as he passes in 1928.
