Samuel Howard was born in Kentucky on 13 May 1818 and passed away on 8 May 1900. He was married to Elizabeth Henderson before 1851. He is living with his wife and two daughters Ellen born 1851 and Alice J born 1853 in Lewis Kentucky in 1860. At some time between 1853 and the 1860 Census the Samuel Howard family immigrates to Perry Township Boone County Indiana. In the 1870 Census he list his occupation as farmer, with his wife Elizabeth keeping house, both daughters are at home. His daughter Ellen marries Silas Funkhouser on 26 Feb 1871 and they start their own family in Perry Township Boone County and are listed in the 1880 Census. Alice J., the youngest daughter of Samuel's is living with her father in the 1880 Census. Samuel is listed as being a widower and his occupation is that of farmer. We can surmise that Elizabeth died between 1870 and 1880. Her burial is at this time unknown.(Notation we will look for her grave in Howards, during probing)The household also includes one boarder a Daniel Comisky, he lists his occupation as farmer. In 1882 Alice J. Howard marries Daniel Comisky. It is on their marriage index that we find the maiden name of Alice's mother.
A connection between John B Howard and Samuel of this sketch has not yet been established. The only linking information is that they are both born in Kentucky, move to the southern part of Boone County, and are both buried in Howards Cemetery. If a connection is uncovered it will be posted here on the Blog
